Ice Cold Protein: Yogurt Treats for Health and Physique Goals

Author: Chris Shugart

Finding healthier alternatives to ice cream and frozen yogurt can be a challenging task. Fat - free options often compensate for the lack of fat by adding more sugar. On the other hand, sugar - free alternatives typically incorporate sugar alcohols, which can have a detrimental impact on gut health. The solution? Make your own yogurt - based treats. These "pops" are a great choice as they are high in protein, contain no added sugar, and are beneficial for your gut. Here is the corresponding video.

Ingredients

  • 3 scoops of MD Protein (available for purchase on Amazon) - choose either vanilla or chocolate flavor.

  • 2 cups of plain fat - free yogurt.

  • Half a cup of powdered peanut butter (such as PB2, also available on Amazon).

  • Optional toppings of your preference, including nuts, berries, coconut flakes, chocolate, etc.

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, protein powder, and powdered peanut butter by stirring them together thoroughly.

  2. Utilize an ice - cream or cookie - dough scooper to drop dollops of the mixture onto a pan lined with parchment paper or, preferably, a Silpat silicone mat (purchasable on Amazon).

  3. Insert ice - cream sticks (available on Amazon) into each dollop.

  4. Get creative and add your chosen toppings, such as berries, coconut flakes, or nuts.

  5. Place the pan in the freezer for one to two hours, and then enjoy your delicious treats.

Additional Options

  • You can first freeze the pops, then melt some dark chocolate. Dip the frozen pops into the melted chocolate and refreeze until the chocolate hardens.

  • For added variety, alternate between using vanilla or chocolate MD Protein (from Amazon) or different flavors of yogurt.
